Step 1...spin some Christmas tunes on the stereo. Prepare horrendous TV cabinet for faux Christmas fireplace makeover. Spray with snow-in-a-can and asphyxiate for 30 seconds while you open every door and window in the house.
Now this next bit is important. So we discovered. Wipe off excess snow-in-a-can from around the edge of the glass or all your bits won't stick!
(User error disclaimer...all these photos taken at night, so not the best from a lighting point of view)
Step 2...apply cladding. Argue with husband regarding how to stick cladding to horrendous TV cabinet. Silently concede that its best to use gaffer tape. And lots of it. Direct husband to put up Christmas tree (we'll decorate with Miss M tomorrow!) so there is no more arguing or 'a better way to do it'. Christmas tree looks great :)
Step 3...using perfect piece of cardboard you kind of stole from Ikea, add chimney. Left over cladding added to inner back.
Step 4...tinsel your heart out. Tinsel like you never have before.
Step 5...hurriedly add stuff, hang lights. Ta Daaa!!! Finished!
What it looks like (well, kind of) when the lights are turned off...ohhhh pretty!
A bit of detail here and there...
All in all it turned out very well I think! It was lots of fun to plan and make. Mr B is going to create 'the ultimate faux fire' tomorrow, so I'll let you know how that goes!
Can't wait to see Miss M's face when she comes downstairs in the morning...!
